Psst… Good News!

We are excited to share with you that the Elgin-Portland Pastoral Charge virtual worship services will be on Cogeco TV (Smiths Falls, Perth and Brockville) Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m.

Pass the word and share the Joy!

How are we doing?

This a question I get asked quite a bit when I am in contact with someone from either church whether by email, text, phone or on the rare occasion in person.
The quick answer is thanks to all of you, we are doing reasonably well and holding our own. Donations have come in via the website, directly mailed to Joanne and Duncan or e-transfer to Portland. I have even had donations to help pay off our loan for the manse and that loan has now been paid off so we now have no debt. The folks that are on PAR are helping us out a lot.

Our two employees have been kept working. Annette our secretary has been working from the office and Rev Takouhi as you know seeing her Sunday services is working from home. We are applying for what we are qualified to apply for from the Federal Government for wage subsidies.

I have no idea when we will get back in our churches as it seems something changes every day. I have and our two church treasures have also been taking webinars on a regular basis from the financial group from the United Church to keep us up to date because things change almost weekly.

Meanwhile, all I can ask is that you keep up what you are doing by sending in your donations by whatever means you are comfortable with and the three treasures, Duncan, Joanne and myself will do everything we can to keep things going and solvent until we can safely sit in our churches and enjoy music and Rev Takouhi live again.

Treasurer Elgin-Portland Pastoral Charge.

Announcement from Halladay Burial Place

Good Afternoon,

In previous years Halladay Burial Place Association advertised their Annual Memorial Service in the Church bulletins for 3 weeks.
In the last few years the event was held in the Elgin United Church.

Would it be possible to include this message on the Elgin Portland Pastoral Charge website and/or face book page?

Halladay Burial Place
Annual Memorial Service
held the 1st Sunday in June
is cancelled because of social distancing
restrictions due to the Covid-19 virus.
Thanks for your previous support.

Sincerely,
Frances French
Secretary and Cemetery Contact
for Halladay Burial Place Association
