WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The process of searching and hiring a new minister is outlined in the Policies and Procedures of the United Church of Canada,
and is composed of two steps: appointing a Profile Committee, followed by a Search Committee.
The participants of one committee are not expected to be a member of the other committee.
Step One is to have a Profile Committee appointed by the Pastoral Charge.
It consists of 3-4 members of each congregation, along with a Pastoral Charge Supervisor (appointed by the Region).
The Profile of the Charge (which used to be referred to as a “Joint Needs Assessment”) is, in effect the
“job description” or “job advertisement” used when seeking a new Minister.
Once the Profile is developed and approved, the job for the Profile Committee is over, and the Search Committee takes over.
Elgin-Portland Pastoral Charge has on file the Joint Needs Assessment used in 2012 when Rev. Takouhi joined us.
The base is already there to create an updated version for this search.
CAN YOU HELP US????? Portland needs 3 or 4 people who are willing to join with Elgin to create our Profile.
We have one person who has already agreed; we need 2 or 3 more.
Please give this some serious thought.
If you are interested and able to help, please contact the Chair of the Portland Council, Hansen Downer, either by e-mail or phone: Hansen.firstname.lastname@example.org or 613-799-3440.
