Joanne McLean underwent oesophageal surgery in Ottawa, Wednesday. The surgery went well and she returned to Smiths Falls hospital for further tests. She is hoping to return home Friday. In Loving Memory This week we have received news of the passing away of the sister of Takhoui, Chouhgik and Ruth. Silvi lived in Los Angeles. We grieve also with the family of Paula Merkley. Paula was a member of the Portland United Church. She has been ill for a number of years and has now gone to be with Jesus. She will be missed by her husband, Bruce and their sons Ben and Chris, as well as close friends and other family members. Elgin United Church Elgin United Church is excited to return to in-person worship at 11:00 am, Sunday, February 20th.  We look forward to once again being able to worship together even though masks and social distancing remain in place.  Rev. Kathleen Walton will be returning to lead us the 1st  and 3rd Sundays of March and April.  We welcome our reopening for in-person worship and pray for a safe return to full capacity very soon. Official Board News    After a couple of years of being short on elected officials we finally have some good news. Someone from Elgin has stepped up and will run for the Chair of the O.B. and someone from Portland has stepped up to stand for secretary of the official board.
