This Sunday is World Food Day. Any Non-Perishable Food contributions to the Food Bank would be gratefully received. They can be placed on the Communion table as you enter the Sanctuary.    Portland United Church Our service on October 17 will be led by Rev. Kathy Walton will be leading our Communion Service at Portland United Church.  For those attending, please remember to bring your small juice box and cracker to comply with COVID protocols. Portland United Church This week’s service will be led by Licensed Lay Worship Leader, Barb Dejeet, who provided an outstanding service a few weeks ago.  For the past few weeks, we have had 25-30 people in attendance, so apart from not having the choir, the attendance is very close to pre-pandemic levels.  We have overflow seating in the Fellowship Hall if required and with live music and singing from Morgan Wright, it seems like pre-pandemic services – especially since everyone is singing quietly behind their masks. Kathy Walton and we will have overflow capacity in the Friendship Room.  There will be no election polling this weekend with the final election day poll returning on Monday. Portland United Church This weekend Portland United Church will be serving as an advanced polling station for the Federal Election, so the parking lot may be a bit more busy than normal.  The payment we receive for the polling station will be added to the Church’s  general fund. We will enter the Church through our normal door and there will be dividers inside of the Fellowship Hall to separate the Church entrance from the polling station. Portland United Church Last week we had 27 attendees who enjoyed great service from Liz Church.  This week, Rev. Kathy Walton will be leading our service and we will be holding communion.  The church council has proposed that we have communion on the first Sunday of each month as we have done in the past.  With COVID protocols in place, please remember to bring a small juice box and a cracker as we use the same approach as we have before for communion. The Elgin-Portland Pastoral Charge Joint Congregational Meeting to receive the Joint Profile Committee report and vote on the recommendation on was held Sunday August 22, 2021. The Joint Committee prepared a comprehensive, thoughtful report and are  commended for their diligence and faith. Thank you to all who attended and participated in this very important matter in the life of our Communities of Faith and the Elgin-Portland Pastoral Charge.  The recommendation put forth by the Joint Profile Committee was passed by secret ballot.
